Audio Processing

Audio Processing by Vorsis

Why should you consider a Vorsis Processor?

The most compelling reason to consider Vorsis is that Wheatstone's team of algorithm designers understands the challenges of real-world broadcast audio processing. We have decades of experience designing audio processing for a  myriad of radio and tv broadcast applications and we are using those same skills to approach and solve broadcast audio processing challenges in completely new ways.

We've combined our  talents to build a completely new class of audio processors - processors so unique and so powerful that they set a new and higher standard for on air sound.

Also, when we set out to design our new line of audio processor targeted at higher end broadcast applications we made a conscious decision to ignore the methods previously used by others to process audio. We did this because as a company we believe that there will always be new ideas for audio processing algorithms.

With the resources of  Wheatstone behind it the Vorsis design team has made significant advances in the digital broadcast audio processing. You can hear the difference!

GUI

Vorsis Intuitive GUI Interface

The GUI structure on all of our audio processors is very straightforward and extremely intuitive. In fact, no adjustment is more than two mouse clicks away from anywhere else in the GUI.

State of the Art Production

Vorsis audio processors are members of the ever-expanding Wheatstone product line and are built to the same exacting standards as all Wheatstone products. Every facet of product research and development, manufacturing, testing, and quality control is done in Wheatstone's large state of the art facility in New Bern, North Carolina to ensure that customers receive superior performing products of the highest possible quality.

State of the Art DSP Algorithms

Vorsis processors rely on proprietary DSP algorithms to create uncommonly clean and natural sound along with competitive "on-the-dial" loudness. Each Vorsis product comes equipped with its own Windows software based Graphical User Interface for intuitive operation. Carefully tuned factory presets ensure that the processors can be placed into use quickly and easily and in any size market with a minimum of effort.

Vorsis Bass Management System

Given our understanding of advanced signal processing and the shortcomings of “bass clippers” in other audio processors, it was clear that a completely different approach for handling bass in an on-air audio processor was both required and warranted. Our design team was intent on tackling the bass processing from a new perspective and the result of our work is the new Vorsis Bass Management System(VBMS) algorithm. In simplistic terms it is a set of high-performance DSP algorithms designed to overcome the shortcomings of previous bass amplitude control topologies while also outperforming them. Remote Monitoring

Every Vorsis processor comes supplied with PC software to control one or more processors via a standard ethernet local area network (LAN). Using TCP protocols, this remote  control can also take place from anywhere with an internet connection. Our  easy-to-navigate software provides a straightforward graphic user interface  (GUI) that controls and displays the powerful features and functions that are  now available with the click of a mouse such as: manipulation of all audio  processing functions, system settings, input/output selection, and preset  creation, storage and application.

A Fast-Fourier Transform (FFT) Display shows realtime spectral analysis of the selected audio  signal showing composite curves representing  the frequency response of the applied processing. Display is determined by the  selector buttons below the graph. Dual, sample  accurate bargraph metering (floating peak over average) indicates  signal levels (input and output) and gain reductions being applied by the multiband compressor.

The Keystone of Vorsis Processing

The AP1000 is the keystone of the Vorsis audio processing  line. Its natural and balanced sound texture, incredible on-the-dial  competitive loudness, and markedly clean sound makes it the most powerful FM and HD broadcast audio processor ever. The AP1000 Spectral Processor with its twin 31 band FFT based limiters takes the "total control" approach to processing with all processing parameters easily adjustable through an easy to use Graphical User Interface.

Built around a multi-band compressor with complementary AGC, the AP-3 can replace a whole rack of dedicated processors. It excels as a high performance microphone processor of extraordinary accuracy.

Whether stereo or mono, VORSIS pre-conditions your signal (HPF, LPF, notch filter, de-esser, expander), then let’s you apply 3-band AGC/compression and 4-band parametric EQ (signal chain-reversible) before running through a zero-overshoot peak limiter prior to final output.

With real-time spectrum density readouts and full metering, our included PC graphic interface software makes operation of the AP-3 a pleasure, offering complete control of all audio parameters, presets, monitor functions, system settings and security, all through a single RJ-45 ethernet connection that lets you control one or many AP-3 units.
