VP-8 Audio Processor |
| |
|
The
VP-8 is the industry’s first multi-mode audio processor with
six built-in processing modes: FM, AM, FM-HD, AM-HD,
MP3/AAC>48k, and MP3/AAC<48k. When operating in one of
its six modes, special processing algorithms designed by Vorsis
condition the audio appropriately for the selected transport medium.
Audio is first preprocessed by a phase-linear four band AGC, then by an
eight band limiter and final limiter or clipper. The eight band and
final limiter operation is different in each of the operating modes due
to special conditioning algorithms embedded within it that have been
tailored for the particular needs of the operating mode. Changing modes
is as simple as selecting a new mode from within the Windows-based
Graphical User Interface; no reboot is required.

Six
Specialized Processing Modes
The VP-8 incorporates six different built-in processing modes that may
be selected by the user. Each operating mode incorporates advanced
processing algorithms specifically designed and tuned to extract the
best audio quality from the associated medium. The VP-8 is equipped
with a built-in library of algorithms that address the special needs of
FM, AM, FM-HD, AM-HD, and High and Low bitrate codec applications.
Vorsis Bass
Management System
The Vorsis Bass Management System (VBMS) circumvents bass-related
distortion plaguing other broadcast audio processors. It works by
monitoring program energy in different parts of the audio spectrum
while manipulating the behavior of the final peak limiter. The result
is increased bass impact and detail without affecting the clarity of
mid and high frequency program — in fact bass detail and
the clarity of higher frequency audio are enhanced
by the VBMS algorithm.
Smart
Stereo Enhancement
Stereo Enhancement is a common feature in audio processors t
oday. However our approach is a new technology we call Smart Stereo
Enhancement. It operates in the sum and difference domain and under the
management of specialized automatic level and spectral management
algorithms. The result is an extremely stable
‘on-air’ stereo image that is wide,
alive,
exciting
to
listen to, and yet still
natural sounding. End users have reported hearing artistically
important nuances in music that were simply inaudible
after being processed by competing products.

The VP-8
is
the industry’s first true multi-mode audio processor with six
distinct and unique operating modes tailored for the specific
requirements of FM, AM, FM-HD, AM-HD, and high and low bitrate MP3 and
AAC codecs. All operating modes benefit from the Vorsis-designed
four-band AGC/compressor, four-band fully Parametric Equalizer, Vorsis
Bass Management System (VBMS), and
preset selection. In each of the six modes the 8 band limiter and
associated algorithms that follow the four band AGC are specifically
designed for the operating mode that has been selected. Twenty five
specially tuned Factory presets are included with each VP-8.
The VP-8 has analog
line level and
digital AES3 inputs, simultaneous analog and digital outputs.
The VP-8 offers the security of only a few front panel controls; most
setup and operating adjustments are made using an Ethernet connection
and the included Windows based Graphical User Interface software.
The VP-8 FM mode
includes sophisticated FM limiting/clipping
algorithms and high quality Stereo Generator.
The VP-8 AM mode
includes sophisticated AM limiting/clipping
algorithms and selectable bandwidth low pass filters.
The VP-8 FM-HD, AM-HD,
MP3/AAC>48k, and MP3/AAC<48k modes
are specialized “Codec” modes specifically tuned to
make best use of the characteristics of the Codec associated with the
name of the mode. Final limiting is accomplished by a precision
look-ahead limiter and low pass filters are available to further tailor
the audio for the specific code and its bit rate.

AP2000
The AP2000 is the
successor to the
Vorsis AP1000 31-band audio processor. Essentially a complete redesign
of the original product, the AP2000 hardware is equipped with 30% more
DSP horsepower, a completely overhauled five band AGC, new voice
distortion management technologies and a new, high-performance
distortion managed clipper. |
|

|
FM2000
The FM2000 is
modeled after the
popular Vorsis AP1000 31-band audio processor and includes all
of the features of the AP2000 except
the
HD processing chain and its dedicated digital output. |

FM10-HD
The FM10-HD is the
successor to the
popular FM5. The FM10-HD offers a five band AGC followed by a ten band
limiter. The FM signal chain includes pre-emphasis and peak control as
well as a reference grade stereo generator. |
|

|
AM10-HD
The AM10-HD offers a
five band AGC
followed by a specialized ten band limiter and high performance
asymmetrical modulation peak controller algorithm that has been
specially designed for the requirements of competitive AM broadcasting. |
